Dal Kabeji Dum Rice

- 1 small bowl washed rice
- 1 small bowl cabbage chopped
- 3 tomatoes chopped
- 2 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 8 garlic cloves chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Oil
- Salt
- Peagon peas split (toor dal)
- Asafoetida
- Curd
- Star anise
- 2 Green chilies chopped
- Boil the water and put the washed rice into it. Add oil and star anise.
- Half cook the rice and strain it.
- Pressure cook the split peagon peas.
- Heat some oil in a sauce pan. Add garlic, green chilies and cook for a while.
- Add turmeric powder and asafoetida.
- Stir for seconds.
- Add tomato, mix well. Cook until soft. Add cabbage, 1 teaspoon garam masala powder, red chili powder.
- Cook until soft. Now add cooked split peagon peas, salt, curd and water.
- Give a nice boil and cook for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Add remaining garam masala powder mix well.
- Add half cooked rice and cover the pan make sure steam should not come out side the pan.
- Cook for 8 minutes on low flame. Keep the cover for some time.
- Open the lid at the time of serving.
- Garnish with fried green chilli and lemon wedges.
