Dal Vegie

Ingredients:
  • 1 small bowl cabbage chopped
  • Fenugreek leaves chopped
  • 3 tomatoes chopped
  •  2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 8 garlic cloves chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • Peagon peas split (toor dal)
  • Asafoetida
  • Curd
  • Star anise
  • 2 Green chilies chopped
Procedure:
  • Pressure cook the split peagon peas.
  • Heat some oil in a sauce pan. Add garlic, green chilies and cook for a while.  
  • Add turmeric powder and asafoetida.  
  • Stir for seconds.  
  • Add tomato, mix well.  Cook until soft.  Add cabbage, fenugreek leaves, 1 teaspoon garam masala powder, red chili powder.
  • Cook until soft.  Now add cooked split peagon peas, salt, curd and water.  
  • Give a nice boil and cook for 10 to 15 minutes.  
  • Add remaining garam masala powder mix well.  Cook for 2 minutes.
  • Your dal vegie is ready.  Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot
